This is how i feel right now. I know everyone says its hard planning a wedding, its just one of those things that i coulde never really internalize until you begin it. what could be so hard about cooking all your own food, inviting people to stay for a whole week and offering them meals, decorating, planning, cleaning, home-improving, hiring staff, etc all your self? i mean, when you think about it seems easy, right?

just an update to say that although i feel like this everyday, i am still totally pumped and looking forward to the week when all our friends arrive to help and looking forward to the day even more. its holding all those details in your brain and body everyday that could kill a person. we couldn't even begin to do this without all the awesome family and friends that have been pulling their talents together. Now, I have to go pick up a pig so i can cook it later today!

back to atl

we ventured back down to atl to see the atlanta ballet company preform "BIG", the creation of big boi of outkast.

pretty cool dancing, costumes and props, plus khujo of the goodie mob performed with him, they did Liberation, Kryptonite, Bombs over Bagdad, The way you move, Church, etc all with a live pit.

as you can see sarahoke has a new doggie named margot and she is totally cute.

creasy doggie would have been a good mama, she played the whole time with margot on her level, pushing her to wrestle and showing her how to play tug of war. creasy was pretending to pull hard and little margot was wearing herself out!

we took them to the dog park and sarah ran around with margot in search of some friends her size.

tarheel mania

just wanted to show the world what its like living with and watching basketball with tarheel maniacs. although they lost in the final four, there were some good prayers and cheers put in, lots of chants such as the ubiquitous, "defense heels, defense" there was even a wave i luckily missed out on.

nh in april

the sap is running in the sugar maples and the tapping has begun. in some places they use the picturesque metal buckets, in some places these plastic tubes that run into collection tanks down hill. every tree is being tapped. they cook the slightly sweet water down into the maple syrup we know and love. that's the sugar shack in the background.

my new friend maggie

maggie p.i.
the best little hound mix in nh
she likes to cross country ski and eat scrambled eggs at 2am with her parents.

requisite chocorua shots

i think i neglected a few things

1) that it was sarahoke's first time ever, and first time anywhere 29th birthday celebration.

2) we cooked up a dinner party for 9 on her porch

3) we practiced our cat claws with michael and corbin

4) the van made it back to 2128 N Lakeshore Dr 2 years and 1 month after its original departure with all its cargo in tact.

Friday, February 29, 2008

After filling our bellies with shrimp gumbo, red beans and rice, and a catfish sandwich respectively we had done little rock proud and took off for Memphis, "put on my blue suede shoes and we boarded the mini van, touch down in the land of the delta blues, in the middle of the pouring rain....now we're walking in Memphis..." home of Graceland and country music we had followed I-40 all the way from the Mojave desert to Elvis land. We thought we were just in for a treat of southern style Ethiopian food, which, with greens, beets, sweet potatoes, we felt even closer to home. But, Ethiopian wasn't the only treat on our oversized plates. The van started shaking so violently as rolled down Poplar st. we knew it couldn't just be Memphis's many pot holes, we remembered 2 years earlier, how we cruised off the highway in Dallas innocently looking for the Botanical Gardens and ended up coasting into the Dodge Dealership only to buy a new CV joint for our cracked axle. It felt like that, so we were worried, we also hoped we'd make it to the garage with all 4 wheels ON the van. We pulled in the parking lot and i look at the passenger wheel --- it is peeling apart,m flapping really, wire mesh all frayed and looking gnarly. MMMM. We're lucky in many way, but today it was because we made it to a tire shop without a blow out and that a tire was all we needed for now. All our relations.

We dipped south, through Tupelo, Mississippi ("Sean I'd say the best ones came form Tupelo, Mississippi," that's from the same album that song "I would walk 5,000 miles and I would walk 5,000 more just to be the man who walked a thousand miles to fall down at your door," was on, i cant remember who they are now, but they sang about Tupelo to my delight and continued musical performance.) Onto Alabama and on the track to Hotlanta, GA (where the girls wear them daisy dukes).
